Finding the “truth” in the quagmire of confusing and often contradictory teaching(s) that inundate the Christian churches in these last days takes an ongoing personal commitment to seeking the truth, and being willing to live what you know. Only the believers that are WILLING to DO God’s will can understand whether someone’s doctrine is of manmade origin, or whether it comes from God.
16 So Jesus answered them and said, " My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
17 " If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
18 "He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. NASU
2:14 Remind the people of these facts and solemnly charge them in the presence of the Lord to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good but upsets and undermines the faith of the hearers.
2:15 Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved, tested by trial, a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing; rightly handling and skillfully teaching the Word of Truth.
2:16 But avoid all empty, vain, useless, idle talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.
2:17-18 And their teaching will devour; it will eat its way like cancer or spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have missed the mark and swerved from the truth by arguing that the resurrection has already taken place. They are undermining the faith of some.
2:19 But the firm foundation laid by God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this seal, this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and, ‘Let everyone who names himself by the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it.’ (See Numbers 16:5; Isaiah 26:13)
8:1 Now about food offered to idols: of course we know that all of us possess knowledge concerning these matters. Yet mere knowledge causes people to be puffed up, to bear themselves loftily and be proud; but love, affection, goodwill and benevolence edifies and builds up and encourages one to grow to his or her full stature.
8:2 If anyone imagines that he has come to know and understand much of divine things, without love, he does not yet perceive and recognize and understand as strongly and clearly, nor has he become as intimately acquainted with anything as he ought or as is necessary.
8:3 But if one loves God truly, with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing, he is known by God, recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him. Amplified Bible
27:17 Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend to show rage or worthy purpose. Amplified Bible
3:16 Then those who feared the Lord talked often one to another; and the Lord listened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who reverenced and worshipfully feared the Lord and who thought on His name.
3:17 And they shall be Mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I publicly recognize and openly declare them to be my jewels (my special possession, my peculiar treasure). And I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.
3:18 Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who does not serve Him. Amplified Bible
2:7 Have the roots of your being firmly and deeply planted in Him, fixed and founded in Him, being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.
2:8 See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit, idle fancies and plain nonsense, following human tradition, men's ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world, just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding the teachings of Christ the Messiah. Amplified Bible
1:3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that are requisite and suited to life and godliness, through the full, personal knowledge of Him who called us by and to His own glory excellence and virtue.
1:4 By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape by flight from the moral decay, rottenness and corruption that is in the world because of covetousness, lust and greed, and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature.
1:5 For this very reason, adding your diligence to the divine promises, employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop virtue, excellence, resolution, Christian energy, and in exercising virtue, develop knowledge and intelligence,
1:6 And in exercising knowledge, develop self-control, and in exercising self-control, develop steadfastness, patience, endurance, and in exercising steadfastness, develop godliness and piety,
1:7 And in exercising godliness, develop brotherly affection, and in exercising brotherly affection, develop Christian love.
1:8 For as these qualities are yours and increasingly abound in you, they will keep you from being idle or unfruitful unto the full personal knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Anointed one.
1:9 For whoever lacks these qualities is blind, spiritually shortsighted, seeing only what is near to him, and has become oblivious to the fact that he was cleansed from his old sins.
1:10 Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure, to ratify, to strengthen, and to make steadfast your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.
1:11 Thus there will be richly and abundantly provided for you entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
1:12 So I intend always to remind you about these things, although indeed you know them and are firm in the truth that you now hold. Amplified Bible
4:5 Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness, your considerateness, and your forbearing spirit. The Lord is near… he is coming soon.
6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer, petition and definite requests, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
7 And God's peace shall be yours, which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amplified Bible
1:5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God who gives to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
1:6 Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering, no hesitating, and no doubting. For the one who wavers, hesitates, and doubts is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. Amplified Bible
4:1 What leads to strife, discord and feuds and how do conflicts, quarrels and fighting’s originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?
4:2 You are jealous and covet what others have and your desires go unfulfilled; so you become murderers. To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned. You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek, so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask. (See 1 John 3:15)
4:3 Or you do ask God for them and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives? Your intention is, when you get what you desire, to spend it in sensual pleasures.
4:4 You are like unfaithful wives having illicit love affairs with the world and breaking your marriage vow to God! Do you not know that being the world's friend is being God's enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world takes his stand as an enemy of God.
4:5 Or do you suppose that the Scripture is speaking to no purpose that says, “The Spirit whom He has caused to dwell in us yearns over us and He yearns for the Spirit to be welcome with a jealous love?” (See Jeremiah 3:14; Hosea 2:19 ff)
4:6 But He gives us more and more grace, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully. That is why He says, “God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace continually to the lowly… those who are humble enough to receive it.” (See Proverbs 3:34)
4:7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil stand firm against him and he will flee from you.
4:8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. Recognize that you are sinners, get your soiled hands clean; realize that you have been disloyal, wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts of your spiritual adultery.
4:9 As you draw near to God, be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep over your disloyalty. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame for your sins.
4:10 Humble yourselves, feeling very insignificant in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.. yes He will lift you up and make your lives significant. Amplified Bible
