24 Beautiful One-liners

1. Give God what's right -- not what's left.

Mark 12:28-31 "What commandment is the foremost of all?"  29 Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'  31 "The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." NAS

2. Man's way leads to a hopeless end -- God's way leads to an endless hope.

Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life. NAS

Proverbs 14:12-14 There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. 13 Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, and the end of joy may be grief. 14 The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied with his. NAS

3. A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.  7 And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace], which transcends all understanding, shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. AMP

4. He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.

5. In the sentence of life, the devil may be a comma--but never let him be the period.

1 Peter 5:8-10 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert.  Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.  10 And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. NAS

6. Don't put a question mark where God puts a period.

James 4:13-15 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit."  14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.  You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.  15 Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that." NAS

9. We don't change God's message -- His message changes us.

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, that no one should boast.  10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. 12. WARNING: Exposure to the Son may prevent burning.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-12 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you 7 and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well.  This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.  8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.  9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed.  This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.  11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.  12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.   (From New International Version)

13. Plan ahead -- It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

Matthew 24:37-39 "For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.  38 For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, they were marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.  NAS

Matthew 6:25-34  "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?  27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?  28 And why do you worry about clothes?  See how the lilies of the field grow.  They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'  32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
